Laundry Room Makeover Plans

I have a laundry room makeover coming up.  The thing is, it's not my laundry room.

That means there has to be some trust that I won't do something stupid in there.

Nope this isn't my laundry room, this one is much cleaner with by far less laundry.

Basic downstairs laundry room
However I remember the days when I happily washed this little girls clothes for her.  I also remember after she started washing her own clothes - static cling caused a thong to stick to one of her dads sweatshirts.  I deposited it in her room out of sight - dad wouldn't of been able to handle that!

Daddy's girl from Baby to Bride in the blink of an eye
My baby was growing up.  The thong incident was about the time she was leaving her teenage years behind.

I'm not gonna get all nostalgic or brag on her, just suffice it to say I could do both in a big way.

She is a quiet, private young woman, who will be appalled her mother is not only talking about her underwear, but showing her laundry room.

Embarrassing your kids never stops does it?

So what does a daughter of DIY'ers get for Christmas?  Why a coupon for a laundry room makeover of course!

The mission......... give the laundry room of married #2 child (and son in law) some easy inexpensive style.

The budget was $250, time and talent free, but a gift card for additional supplies was forced on us, so the new budget is $500.  It's still not a lot is it?  That's why we will have to be creative.

The floor is sloped toward a drain in the center, and daughter/son in law had decided before Brawn and I came on board that they would just like to paint it with that garage floor coating.  But now I'm thinking maybe I want to paint something creative on it?

Like George Carlin's 7 dirty words you can't say on television.

Just kidding!

To give the room some personality, I plan to use stuff from my overflowing stash in the shed.  The colors will remain neutral.  (In keeping with my fear of anything but neutral!)  If we need it - Brawn will build it.

There are no grand babies at this house, yet anyway, so my arrows about baby clothes are just jokes.

I would never want them to think I was hounding them to feed my own selfish desire for more adorable grand kids .....just saying.

You can follow Bliss Ranch on Pinterest where I have a laundry room board of ideas.  It's probably only fair if I air someone elses dirty laundry, to show my own right?  Too bad sooooo sad, not happening.

I better get crack'n, with any luck doing a makeover for someone else won't take near as long to complete as projects do at the Ranch.

  23. I didn't think that a laundry room makeover post would leave me feeling weepy. Now, all I can do is imagine Grace as a bride.

I can't wait to see what you accomplish.

  26. What great parents you and Brawn are to do this for your daughter and son-in-law. I'm sure you will go something amazing and I can't wait to see it!

  27. Oh this will be so fun! I think you should decorate it like a nursery... so maybe they'll get the hint. :)

  28. If you adopt me and do wonderful things with my tiny new laundry room, I guarantee you one 6'4" hairy-almost-23-year-old man-thing grandchild, along with a tiny, 5'2" almost-22-year old, sometimes-drama-queen, career student, opinionated girl-grandchild.

    Sounds like a bargain.

  29. Good luck on the timing thing...But I'm sure it won't take that long. I always get other people's projects done faster than my own. Man I wish I had a laundry room...

  30. I bet this is going to be awesome just like the rest of your projects. Can't wait to see the end result.

  31. When you are finished your daughter's, can you come do mine? It's in the basement, unfinished, concrete floor with chips out of it...beside the furnace and water heater and freezer...about the size of a small 3 piece bathroom. Hopeless...
Would love to see your mural when it's done, will you paint it or find a good picture of you and have it blown up?
    Debbie ;)

  32. Just one question, Bliss. Why are the washer and dryer cross-eyed?
