Latte Bottle turned Soap Dispenser

While on my month long quest to avoid manual labor in my dining room redo, I decided I needed my dish soap in a glass jar, or bottle or whatever besides what it was in.

I didn't want the regular pump from a soap bottle, I wanted the big 'ol thing from my peeling metal soap dispenser.

So I assembled the parts:
A yucky Gingerbread latte beverage from December
The old soap pump
Glass of mostly gone ice tea
Miscellaneous glass jars that were sitting there
And a sippy cup.

Because when taking a picture, why on earth spend the extra second it takes to move all that junk out of the way?

Don't anyone get too excited over this project, or the tutorial I am about to give you.

Soap Dispenser from glass bottle - tutorial if you need it

Try to drink the Gingerbread latte because you don't want to waste it.  It has been there since December, someone might want it.
Take the metal bottle lid, get a screw driver and pound holes in it till it looks like the old soap pump top will fit in there firmly.
Bonus!... the bottle lid fits right inside the neck of the pump, it doesn't show, it fits tight.
Cut the plastic straw part three different times before you get it right.  That took the longest and each time I thought I had it right I put it in the soap then had to take it out and drip dish soap all over.
Screw the metal lid with the old pump top on the jar.  I got lucky - it fits perfect.
Wash dishes.

While the rest of the blog world is talking about Spring and what project to start on and link up, or that your flowers are coming up, all that does is make me want to put snow down your pants.

The below self explanatory photos tell you why I'm a bit bitter.

My view as I shower

View as I leave to go shopping before the blizzard comes tomorrow

I should keep driving west till I find sun and warmth

And just in case you can't figure this out.... the view while I use my soap dispenser looks about the same out the kitchen window. Same white stuff, different side of the house.

  1. I'll swap, I'd love some snow! Love the dispenser I keep pinning soap dispensers then get lazy and use the $1 from the supermarket!

  2. Pick me up on your way to the sun! I'm in the middle of an ice storm right now and I've had quite enough of winter. The soap dispenser looks very chic. I used an old sealer for mine but the pump is too close to the jar and drips soap down the side. It looks cute so I suffer with it.

  3. I'm sick of winter too, but your drive looks beautiful - Love your new soap dispenser, but get your dining room done!

  7. Cool soap dispenser Bliss! And just in case you need some moral support the view out my back door is not nearly as beautiful as the view from yours! We now have 3" of snow too but all I see out all 4 sides of my house is another house. Your view of space, fields, and trees is gorgeous snow or no snow! So don't be bitter.... Chin up! Spring will be here soon!

  10. Love the dispenser. We got 6 inches of snow last night, I don't think spring is coming here anytime soon, UGH!!!!!!

  11. I have some of those bottles just waiting to be used for the same purpose but I can't find the right pump -- every time I get one they don't fit. Do you per chance know/remember where you got the pump?

    1. I had to trim the inside straw, just cut that off, and the cap I got lucky on that it fit. Think I got the pump years ago at Bed Bath & Beyond.

  14. Why didn't you just keep driving and come to Texas? We've had some absolutely wonderful spring like days, up to 82'. Now, in a few days the high will be in the 50's again. :)

    Cute soap thingy!

  15. I love a good re-use project...yours is wonderful! My kitchen decor includes sippy cups at all times, seems to be a rule here. I am so over this snow...and now I have another cold, too. Last year we had no winter, this year it is endless...spring has to be here soon!

  16. LOL on your manual labor avoidance techniques!! Great soap dispenser upcycle and what a gorgeous view -- if it were December. Still, your yard and drive is beautiful. Today is the first day it hasn't snowed here in ages and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm so tired of winter boots!!

  17. Very clever!! I love the whole vignette...the real greenery looks so pretty!
We had snow again last night too, I'm so over this!!

  19. Such a cute little latte bottle turned soap dispenser! Your snow is lovely. I"m sick of it too though. We missed our storm by going away this weekend and experiencing some milder temps, blooming tulips in the ground (among other things) and blossoming cherry trees. Spring is coming!! I know it IS!
Now what was in that sippy cup???

  20. We only get incidental snow here. Just a tiny bit, it's pretty, then it melts. I don't know how to drive in it or live in it. It's completely foreign to me.
That view out your shower is amazing though. Love that. We do get loads of rain though, so I know how you feel about driving until you find sun!!

  21. Now that is a lot of snow. We have cold here, just no snow. Where is spring already.

Your latte bottle turned soap dispenser turned out great.

  22. southern illinois felt like spring today...so head this way! and really you are lucky it just fit on there like that, if it were me i'd have to drink that gross latte and then i wouldnt fit anyways

  23. I hope that shower is extra hot, Bliss. Brrrr.
We had to turn on the AC yesterday- 90 here.
I can't bring myself to throw out those cute bottles.
Is that gravy boat or creamer always there or is it a prop?
Why hasn't it been smashed to smithereens by big boy hands?

  25. Well you're welcome to put snow down my pants since I didn't see ANY of it this year or last! See? You just need to move to GA. Then you won't have anymore snow to complain about. Ha! Your view outside looks beautiful though, I must say. It is starting to green up around here, but with that comes allergies. We're all sniffling and sneezing over here. It is cold outside too. Love your thrifty homemade soap dispenser. It looks great!

  26. Thanks for this. I just saved a Starbucks bottle, not knowing why, and now I remember that I want a "new" soap dispenser for the bathroom.

    1. Just don't throw away the lid, that's why I had to open another of the yucky ones, I had bottles but no lids.

  28. Bliss, I read through all the comments and not one mentioned the beer in the mug on the counter behind the latte. Did someone party without me?! You and I are avoiding things lately. I have yet to finish my mudroom decorating and you are avoiding your dining room ... hmmm. Soap bottle is fab by the way!

I am right there with you on hoping the snow melts soon!!! Although, we leave Friday for VACATION!!! Warm weather ... here we come!

  30. So cute! I love the size of it. Sorry to hear about your snow. I may have whined about the cold yesterday when it was 60.

  31. Maybe you soap dispenser will dispel your bitterness! We had snow too the other day - but not that much! And I was a bit bitter about it myself!

  33. You poor thing! Sorry about all that snow! We are 20 degrees cooler than normal here but at least we don't have snow. I'm happy because I don't have time for yard work anyway. The gingerbread latte sounds awful....did you actually drink it? Ick....

  34. Love this idea!! It's fantastic!
I dare say your view looks an awful lot like mine. Hmmm.
Maybe it's a good thing I don't have a window in my bathroom. For a few minutes I can be warm and happy :)

  35. SO cute! I like this better than the mason jars because it's not as bulky! Now I need to start liking coffee/latte's! I'm sure I could figure something out!

  36. Well I totally missed this one..and I'm kind of upset that I apparently missed the Gingerbread lattes at Target when they were in season too! I'm such an idiot...when I first saw that picture, I thought you were going to use part of a sippy cup!! All turned out lovely and I hope spring comes to the netherworld soon for you!

  39. I need to find a nice plastic bottle - my bathrooms are so small I keep knocking over the glass soap dispensers and breaking them. So of course I have some extra pumps.

  40. Love this! I had wondered how you added that latte to this project- now I'm schooled!

Your view is my view. We have a good foot of snow here, now! Today it's with freezing rain, I am STILL wearing a parka and boots and your view is my view..and I'm just irritated by all of it! RARRR!!
