So I Married A Creative ___?___.

It's a blog hop where 18 of us gave spouses the opportunity to spill their guts.

Ever wonder what the spouse behind the blogger has to say?
In my case he's the hands or feet in blog photos.

Some spouses might have clammed up when asked questions.

Some may have seized the day.  Some may have not!

Before you read on, you need to know a couple things here at the ranch....

Brawn spilling his guts?  Well he's not a chatter box - he gave longer answers sometimes if I stared at him with a look of "that's all 'ya got?".

And me... I demonstrated extreme control by not interjecting my thoughts and words to explain his thoughts and words.  Take note of that control because it seldom happens.

I barked out the instructions that I was going to interview him.  After the first question he said, pass, come back to that one.  By the fourth question he said, "so these are real questions I actually have to think about?".  Sheesh.

In Brawn's Words:
I Married A Creative______
"Genius?  Person?  I don't know .... those aren't very original answers".

Q1.  What is your favorite project Bliss has done, and why?
A. The dining room.  When we took out walls about 10 years ago.  It was boxed in, it looks good.

Q2.  What is your least favorite, and why?
A.  A fireplace mantel overlay thing - it was alright but not amazing and didn't last long - we took it down. I saved it for scrap to use for other projects and can modify it.

Q3.  What is the one creative item or tool that Bliss cannot live without?
A.  Her computer.

Q4.  What is your biggest pet peeve about Bliss in the real world or the project and decorating realm?
A.  That's top secret, if I answer I may not make it through the night.

Q5.  If you could take Bliss on a vacation anywhere, where would she want to go?
A.  To sun and surf, a nice beach somewhere.
See Q12
Q6.  Bliss finds $100.  What does she do with it?
A.  Spends it foolishly on me.

Q7.  What is YOUR favorite room in your house and why?
A.  The bedroom for obvious reasons.

Q8.  Creativity is messy, but for the most part blogs show the pretty picture.  Can you tell us how Bliss is a secret slob?
A.  Well, she's usually in her pj's or sweatshirt, she's not dressed to go to a party when she's decorating something.

Q9.  Name a project or decorating adventure that you thought would be a flop but was fabulous?
A.  Some of the furniture pieces looked like schittt when she first started on them but turned out real nice... real good... wonderful when they were done.

Q10.  Blogging takes a lot of time.  Do you ever pass by Bliss while she is on the computer and secretly feel neglected?
A.  She does get pretty zoned in to what she is doing, but it doesn't really bother me.

Q11.  Before, during, and after photos are an important part of blogging, do you remember to do that while working on projects for Bliss?

A.  Sometimes I start before I remember that, then I have to backtrack to take the pictures, but I'm getting better at remembering, just not better at how the pictures turn out.

Q12.  How often do you read Bliss's blog and do you have a favorite post?

A.  Never - she tells me about it.  I see more posts from other people because she shows theirs to me but not her own.  (Since he doesn't read this I can put a beach pic of him on here.... ah ha ha ha ha ha don't anyone tell!)

Q13.  Before changing a piece of furniture, hanging new curtains, or planning a whole room redo, does Bliss consult you or do you come home and it's done?
A.  She tells me what WE are doing and then WE start on it.  WE have at it, usually right away.

Q14.  Does Bliss discuss her blog with you,  stories from other blogs or friendships with other bloggers?
A.  Yes.

Q15. Where do you think Bliss gets most of her creative inspiration; tv, magazines, online, you, or was she just born that way?
A.  She was born that way.

Q16.  Do you know what Pantone's color of the year is and how do you feel about so called "girly" colors for your walls?
A.  No clue.  Don't want girly colors in my house, just in kids rooms.

17.  If you could change one room or area of your home with no decorating advice from Bliss, what area would you choose and why?
A.  The garage cuz that's my section of the house.

Q18.  Are you ever worried Bliss will share too much personal information or that blogging might invade your private life?
A.  No... I know she has control over what she writes.

Q19. Have you ever helped Bliss style photos for her blog or offer input on how you think a vignette should look?
A.  It would be great if I knew what a vignette was.

Q20.  There is a saying "If walls could talk...", what would yours say about the decorating in your bedroom?
A.  They could say a lot of stuff about other things, but I'm not sure what they'd say about the decorating.

I really should of video taped this interview just to show how perplexed he was by some of the questions, and how much we laughed, mostly because I was making faces at him.

Now click and hop over to the blogs listed below to see what their better half had to say about them.

  1. I am sensing a trend--many of us married guys who don't say much. Is it because they can't get a word in edgewise?

  3. I have to agree with Kirby. Mr. Refined is also a "man of few words". I'm beginning to realize why. The beach pic is my fave (see Q18) xo

  24. I think he did a good job. I have to say John is not a chatty man either so I don't know if he would be good at this at all. Helping build great, chatty not so much.
