I had this metal Bon Appetit sign hanging in the breakfast nook for about 20 years.
Then last fall I made a Dairy Scale sign and Bon Appetit went behind a door.
The frame is metal and has hanging thingies on it already, which meant all I had to do was fit some wood on the back and it would be ready to hang after it was painted.
CedarSafe sent me complimentary wood for the playhouse redo we are working on, and I saved all the left over cedar scraps because I knew I could put them to use on small projects, and besides, they smell good!
Two short cedar pieces were put together with wood staples on the back side, and then I painted the front side a dark gray and stuck on the letters I cut out with my vinyl cutting machine.
My favorite way to get an aged looking sign is using La Chaux Lime paint from the Maison Blanche Paint Company.
I just bought three new colors, the one I'm using here is called Arctique. It's a nice bright white.
The front of the cedar with the vinyl letters was painted over with the lime paint.
There is a process for this paint..... wait 20 minutes then you move it around while it is in a putty like stage creating texture. There are videos on the company page of the "how too".
I found a spot for the sign in the mudroom.
Some days around here it's like an airport with kids or their friends flying in and out.
Some days like today, it's very quiet, at least temporarily.
But all days it's a bit like Grand Central Station.
As New Yorkers...WE LOVE THIS!!!

This sign would go perfectly in my home this past week while my son has been home visiting, and trust me there have been plenty of "not running on time" announcements around here, lol. Kudos to you ladies who can keep the schedule running somewhat smoothly.
