Thrift Store Decor Hard Working Not Lazy Susan

I've scored a few thrifty things over the years, and some of those things are due for a redo.

One item that needed some TLC was a $3.00 thrift store lazy Susan.

She's a big girl, 20 inches across.

Here she is a couple years ago on the day I brought her home.  She wasn't very groovy.

Rather than thrift this back to the store for someone else to give it new decor, I decided to update it myself for the November Thrift Store Decor Team makeovers.

The lazy Susan may look familiar to you from the first re-do I gave it.

I didn't hate it, but.... well.... the truth is I'm working on a kitchen table redo, that has turned into a kitchen table re-don't, and the way the lazy Susan was just didn't look right on top of the re-don't.

It's a big, heavy thing, and notice in the before picture the top used to be flat.  Brawn cut some nice grooves in it, and I added old handles from the garage.

But that was then and this is now.

A couple coats of Fusion Mineral Paint in a white called Picket Fence, and the transformation began.

I decided simple was best, based on how my kitchen table makeover was shaping up.

I used a stencil from Donna at Funky Junk Interiors, you can get yours here - she has some new ones coming out for the holiday season so stop back often to check.

Stencils are easy and this one was quick on this thrift store find.

I opted to use Fusion Chocolate Brown for the letters, and in under a minute my graphic was on top of my re-done lazy Susan.

I left an area without graphics since I set other table necessities on the top of it.

The simpler design and color work better on my kitchen table, even before I started the re-don't.

I've gotta figure out where I went wrong with the table redo, so while I'm working on that,  I hope you'll make your way around to the other thrifty bloggers to see what they've created this month for Thrift Store Decor.

  16. Wow! I never would've guessed that the sign used to be a basic lazy susan. I love the texture you gave it and the new color and lettering.
