One Drawer Down... One Million To Go

Last weekend my two daughters and I went shopping.  I didn't need a thing, but of course that didn't stop me and I never turn down an invitation to hang out with them.  One stop was Home Goods and I saw a drawer organizer.  This I needed.  I did.
9 Inches wide
A quick call home to interrupt Brawn's flu and ask him to measure the top center drawer width in our bathroom.  9" wide?  Perfect, the organizer also was 9" wide.  It was meant to be in my non mathematical mind.

9 inch wide swath of crap
The organizer did not go in easily, duh 9 inches on both items leaves no room for give.  But I forced it in.  I only split a small spot on the drawer side and it's not even noticeable.   It's in, and it ain't coming out!
I discovered this little treasure under 100 eye liner pencils.  I think it was my mom's and I tossed it in that drawer over 10 years ago.  It will go nicely with the vintage barber shop junk we inherited with an old building we bought.

And I found this.....
The missing alligator claw from a Florida vacation back in 1994.  I need a show of hands please if anyone else has an alligator claw in their makeup drawer.  Don't be shy, speak up.
After

Amazingly I got rid of very little stuff.  'Got rid' of as in threw in the trash.  I did take out all the tooth related items and put it in a Velveeta box for now.  I'll organize the cabinet I tucked that into another day.  I also put the claw back in.  What else am I gonna do with it?  Can you find it?  Where's Clawdo.

The most amusing thing to me was that I have so many lipsticks.  They must be from Halloween costumes since the one beauty item I use the least is lipstick.  I have my mothers old lipsticks, some from the girls when they were in dance, and a few I thought I might like.  Give me an eyeliner pencil, some fragrance and flavor free lip stuff and a bit of face lotion and I'm pretty much good to go.

We also made this purchase at Costco.  No I didn't eat it all myself, (thought about just rubbing it right on my ash).  There is always plenty of help around here for cheesecake eating, just not drawer organizing.

  4. I did all my drawers last summer and they are a big mess again. I'm sorry to say that I didn't find anything cool or clever in my drawers. But, my husband's? I'm terrified- he's probably got the rest of your gator in his.

  5. You had quite the variety of things in that drawer! This makes me motivated to clean out my vanity...it is amazing what I do throw out though. I have nail polish bottles that won't even open anymore!

The cheesecake looks like it was awesome!

  6. Oh Gees I swear I am still laughing out loud. I have to make a mental note to visit your blog more often. That show of hands thing on the alligator claw had me in stitches. God only knows what I'd find if I attempted to get to the bottom of my makeup drawer. I think an organizer like the one you found would motivate me though. great score.

  8. Bliss you just make me laugh outloud. I am SO glad your makeup drawer did look mine right now. How about you swinging over here and organizing mine. However you will NOT find the alligator claw. You funny funny cute lady you. Thanks for saving a piece of cheesecake. Obviously all your readers can't share it because we wouldn't even get much more than a taste. (smile)

    Hugs,

  10. Once upon a time my sister was sorting through my mom's jewelry box. There was something unusual there, so I picked it up..."What's this?" I said. "Oh, it's a rattlesnake rattle from a snake your dad killed for me once." I THREW it across the room! So not an alligator claw--but close ;-)

  11. I love that print. I just made notes of what all the words were. I'm not sure I could cover that up. How about doing a tutorial on how to make a necklace out of an alligator claw? Or how about 101 things you can do with Clawdo? As usual, your post was hysterically funny.

  12. I was trying to organize hardware drawers in the basement today and I found nothing remotely as interesting as Clawdo! Maybe it's actually a manicure tool and that's why it was in your makeup drawer. I can certainly relate to dozens of lipsticks and I only ever wear one color. I wonder if the petroleum in them can be recycled into fuel. Maybe if we all pool our unwanted lipstick we can bring down the price of gasoline.

  17. I've been collecting crab claws off the beach - we could definately have a game of clawdo !!!
I don't however, put them in my make-up drawer - but that's probably because I don't have one - I don't go out much, I don't want to scare anyone, I just stay home staring at animal parts !!!

  21. It looks great. Isn't it amazing what you find in bathroom drawers. I hope it stays neat for a long while. At my house neat drawers never last more than a month.

  22. There's so much satisfaction in an organized draw - isn't there! You made me chuckle about your math calculations! That's exactly what I would have done! Well, as for the cheesecake, I would have applied it directly to my thighs! LO!!!!

  23. A missing alligator claw! Ha! I actually really like that organizer though, and Lord knows I need more organization in my life!

  24. Thanks Bliss for the comment on my blog. I love it that you said a 'Nann for all Trades.' It made me chuckle. I wish I had the talent and desire to finish off painting stuff like you do. You do a great job with what I have seen.

    Love you friend!
