Have you heard of Lamp in a Box?
Well let me just tell you; they are P.D.C.... Pretty Darn Cool. This one arrived at my house as a Christmas gift from the Lamp in a Box folks.
For the base there are several styles and the usual finishes. Mine is satin nickle.
There isn't anything extraordinary about the base, but that's because for me it's all about the shade.
I have this little corner in our bedroom where I like to curl up to read. I'd tell you that's with a good book, but more than likely I'm answering emails or reading blogs on my Ipad.
This spot didn't need a lot of light - by day the sun comes in the big windows, and in the evenings my Ipad has a bright screen. But at night it needed a little something something.
The bulb in my Lamp in a Box supplies the perfect warm glow for my comfy corner.

The shade was packed nice and secure. So secure in fact I didn't know how to get it out of the box.
Sometimes our lamps have the only bright bulbs around here!
But the best part? You don't have to pick from only the designs they carry. Nope, at Lamp in a Box you can design your own. As in coordinate your shade perfectly for the surroundings you choose to put it in. And the price is right for a custom product like that.
They have a ton of fun shades to pick from to match any decorating style. Or put your kids artwork on a lamp, a photo from your wedding, your dog, my dog, or design some subway art.
I had the option to design my own. But I concluded it would take me a million years to narrow down my choices so I opted for this vintage looking Ford Motor Co. shade. And I love it.
Look at that cute little pull chain |
It's a pretty cozy spot to sit next to my lamp with my Ipad. On the opposite wall is a gas burning fireplace.
One of my very first posts was this time of year where I mentioned how talented Brawn is for building this whole wall unit, as well as our bed.
The dog photo-bombed that post two years ago, and Mo hasn't changed a bit, he still puts his face in every photo he can.
So next time your email inbox says "you've got mail", and it happens to be from me, there is a good chance I'm sitting right here with my extra warm yukon slippers, my Ipad, cuddled up under a blanket next to my Lamp in a Box.......
with a dog on my lap.
I love the lamp, and I am envious of that wall Brawn built. WOW!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Love your lamp in a box!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I've never heard of Lamp in a Box before...I'm going to have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like bliss to me! I sit in the chair in my family room but isn't always quiet like your spot. That little lamp is cute! What a great idea someone came up with. That was a nice gift.
ReplyDeleteI love the lamp but wow Brawn is pretty damn amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh I can see it now!! You and Mo, fighting for the chair so you can watch Brawn get ready to build something more spectacular then the wall unit! :)
ReplyDeleteThat lamp shade is awesome! It is so my style!
ReplyDeleteI can't help thinking of the SNL sketch of "something else in a box". :) Love those boots, btw! The lamp fits perfectly in with your house and style. So cool!
ReplyDeleteLove the lamp, love your little sitting/reading nook and love that Mo. Oh, and Brawn, that is one great wall!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Love the lamp, the built ins and the photo bombing dog!
ReplyDeleteI'm off to check out Lamp in a Box, because I'm looking for just the right lamp for my Danish Modern family room. Thanks for sharing! As usual, your photos are gorgeous and ....that's not exactly where I picture you sitting when you are emailing me, but I like thinking about this spot better! LOL!!!
ReplyDeletei love that lamp- it totally suits you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome lamp!!! Your slippers rock too!!! :) ~~Angela
ReplyDeleteLove the lamp but love the entire post too! My hideout isn't as hidden as outside the window is the front yard, great view complete with nosy neighbors and the street but it is a special corner that needs a little lamp for the times when the iPad is on the charger and I am reading a real book.
ReplyDeleteIf I lived in town that window would be in the same place as yours. Only the squirrels can see me here.
DeleteWow... I thought you made that lamp shade! It fits "YOU" perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI am working on my little cozy corner in our bedroom right now. It has been a trial finding the right seating. We ordered a sofette and now it is sitting here waiting for the pick-up to be returned. Ouch... that cost me shipping. But, it looks like I found a small, but really comfortable vitage chair that is also modern and masculine for the hubster. Now... off to order a lamp... you got me thinking!
Well, that is an unusual lamp. Really cute and does not take up a lot of room in your 'blissful' reading corner. I think Mo approves too.

I'm jealous of everything Brawn builds! The bed, too??? I love your cozy place and that lamp is so you. I'm going to check the site, it looks really fun.
ReplyDeleteKiss Mo for me.
That is a very cool lamp...and I love that you can design a shade if you want! The built in is completely amazing...you are one talented family! And Mo...well, he's a good-looking heart stealer...
ReplyDeleteWait, I was waiting for the giveaway where I could tell you where I'd put my lamp in a box ... and now that sounds dirty! Ha!

ReplyDeleteThat is the coolest lamp. And I love your dog. Everyone needs a photo bombing dog.
ReplyDeleteoh fun, it would be hard for me to decide what to put on it too. But I LOVE customizing stuff. I am jealous of your snuggly nook!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Your hubby is so talented too! Thanks for telling us. Never heard of them.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't know better (because you confessed) I'd swear you made that shade, it's so your style. I'm in love with your lamp in a box, and the box for the lamp in a box, and Brawn's built-ins, cozy reading corners, and of course photo bombing dogs. Can you feel the love?? Lol
ReplyDeleteLove this lamp in a box. I'm going to have to check them out. And of course I love the shade. That's a perfect profile of Mo! And silly me, I always assumed you were on the pot with your I-pad when you read my blog....
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that you can sit there quietly and your kids can't find you, unless they walk all the way into the room !
ReplyDeleteThe lamp is really cute, so I went to do a bit of online window shopping, but could only get the home page (which is not actually a problem because I don't need to add anything else to my wish list !).
That lamp is genius!!! My parents are HUGE Model T'ers! (You may recall some pics of them in their various Model Ts.) I've GOT to get this lamp for them! Lucky Duck!!!
