DIY Enamel Look Tags

The year was 2012.  Spring sometime, who remembers.  I made these faux roller shades out of burlap coffee sacks from a tutorial by Donna at Funky Junk.  

No sewing - my kind of window treatment. Donna made it look easy.  I fumbled through it, they are still hanging in my windows two years later, and I still love them.

But they needed a little something.  Enter another tutorial I found at Serendipity Refined from Kimberly.

Back before Kimberly or Donna ever knew who I was, I was following their tutorials.  I also don't reinvent the wheel so if you would like the full tutorial for these DIY enamel look tags, you need to head over to Serendipity Refined.

I started with some thin aluminum tags I had in the drawer and picked up some embossing powder at the craft store.  I think it was in the scrap booking isle.

I followed the tutorial on Kimberly's blog -to a T- and they turned out awesome.  I intended to make some more..... I'll add it to the list.

It's hard to see the gloss shine the tags have, but they do, and that's what makes them look like enamel or porcelain. 

They were just what the burlap valances needed, random numbers that look like mini enamel signs as pull tags for faux shades.  So don't pull them, the shades won't go anywhere.

I attached them with some ball chain clasped together.

I hung them in no particular order on the coffee sack valances, and overheard the in-laws asking each other "what's up with the numbers?".

Mission accomplished.
