Cake Tester Winner (s)

First of all, thank you to everyone who entered to win one of daughter #2's lampwork bead cake testers.

But there can only be one winner.

Well usually.

But not this time.

This time there are two winners for the one cake tester I am forcing my daughter to make for me to give away.

Antique Oak Table

In the early days of kids and dinner, our home had an antique round claw foot table that was 100 years old and made of oak.

We bought it with the typical four press back chairs that had caned seats.

This was at our first house and we used it as our kitchen table.  We bought it from an elderly man named Harry Peterson who went to auctions and refurbished furniture, mostly oak pieces.

Grand Central Station Sign

I had this metal Bon Appetit sign hanging in the breakfast nook for about 20 years.

Then last fall I made a Dairy Scale sign and Bon Appetit went behind a door.

VIP Paint Tote (Very Important Parts)

I spotted this wooden tote at the end of a driveway at a home that was having a garage sale.

It was with the pile of free stuff.

Free?  Why yes thank you very much.

I hopped out and walked directly to the tote and picked it up.

Then I went to pay for something that was free because I had to know why it was in the free pile.

I mean holy moley - totes are like wooden gold to me, there is always a use for them.

Sun Room Window Box Fail

You know how one thing leads to another?

Window Box Paint Fail, Bliss-Ranch.com

And sometimes the road where it leads to is to a road you should not have taken?

Well that's what happened on the road to window box FAIL.

Old Furniture Came Calling

Last weekend a text came in from Daughter #1:

I pictured her and her husband driving along, spotting stuff and thinking of me.

Mud Pie Station

Last year this time I made what turned into my all time favorite project.

Mud Pie Station, Bliss-Ranch.com
A mud pie station.

Since it's ready to be hauled out of the shed and into the yard so baking can begin, I decided to re-post it in time for other people to cook one up for themselves this summer.

Sometimes I have these crazy thoughts, lets call them pie in the sky notions.

I see something somewhere that I have never seen before and I get all pie eyed with wonder.

Minnesota Rhubarb Dessert

Rhubarb.

Growing up in Southern California I never heard of such a thing.

My mid-western mother surely had, but I'm guessing there wasn't an over abundance of rhubarb in the produce isle in our suburb of Los Angeles.
