I am a lazy crafter.
I know I'm not alone, I know who you are, like me you have made no secret of it. I have been pinning and pinning. Beautiful fall wreaths. Just take a look at my Pinterest wreath board . I had good intentions, that is till I stumbled on a fifty cent garage sale wreath. I can't buy the fix'ins any cheaper and then there is a time factor, oh and that lazy thing.
Twigs for new stems |
It needed a little love and it really isn't anything like what I envisioned or pinned. But I can get over that, it was only fifty cents. Really all it needed was some hot glue and new stems made with twigs from the yard. The craft box has lots of Autumn odds and ends, so I tucked in a bit of fabric, some of that gray mossy stuff, some ribbon, and a few dried corn... shucks? Husks? What are those corny things called?
Mudroom Door |
And did I mention that it cost me fifty cents?
This sparked me to change the front door deco too. That lazy crafter thing entered again. Why spend all that time creating a new wreath when all I really have to do to change it up is slap on some fall flowers and chalk in orange. Right?
So that's what I did. Done. I didn't even erase the welcome and I see it looks like crap. I'll put some nicer chalking on there when I get a minute or I'm not lazy. Or when I have to erase that to write welcome Winter.
I might just make one of those beautiful wreaths I have pinned. I have a few more doors I could put one on. Did I mention that one only cost fifty cents?

Well, now you can join all the wonderful fall wreaths on Pinterest, 'cuz I'm pinning yours!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even have a Christmas wreath last year, much less a spring, summer or fall one, so I'm impressed with your Sept. 1 wreath.
~Angie
It hit 100 again today...fall are you kidding ...it's hot....I need a fall fix, my favorite season and growing up in the Black Hills of So.Dak...even after 36 years away....I miss fall leaves....So girl best of luck with the wreaths...two of mine sold today...one a heart, the 4rth I have done, One a small star(I may never make one that big again) and one of my garlands sold yesterday...I need to make about 10 for Marta and freinds in November....o my fingers...Love the silver tray for a wreath...him thinking....I have to make one for an event...How many small trays can I find...I have an idea....
ReplyDeleteI am so ready for fall! I love your fifty cent wreath! Lookin' good. I make them to sell, but hardly ever put a wreath up around here....not even for Christmas. Maybe I will this year!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great weekend! My Marine nephew is here..yeah! It's so nice to see him!
Holly
SEMPER FI TO YOUR MARINE AND BLESS HIM...
Deletefitty cent? yo, yo, yo. Gangsta wreath.
ReplyDeleteHey, it's not called lazy! It's called being creative...and cheap...the first two words people use to describe me! Wear it proudly!
ReplyDeleteGreat wreath Bliss... even if you did only spend 50 cents! I'm not really ready for fall.... That means I have to change up all the summer stuff and I'm too busy getting ready to go back to school. Last year I seem to have skipped right over fall and went straight to Halloween. I'll have to be better this year!
ReplyDeleteSusan
Look at you gettin your fall on and doin it on the cheap! Looks good to me! Fall is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed! 50 cents and right on time! I like the metal 4 for an industrial vibe.
ReplyDeleteI forget. How much did you spend on that wreath? BTW, I could read your entire post in my email. So, the truncating thingiemabob didn't work.
ReplyDeleteFor fifty cents, why not. I think it is cute and love the front door one, too. You are ahead of me.
ReplyDeleteNothing like putting the fall pressure on ...my kids aren't even back in school yet!
ReplyDelete:)
I love your wreaths, Bliss...your house looks ready for fall! I love how you re-used things inexpensively! We already have leaves all over...so it looks like fall here, too!
ReplyDeleteYou showed your fifty cent wreath a lot of love and it shows! I love them both!
ReplyDeleteYour so good at wreaths. I love them.
ReplyDeleteDee
P.S. The ducks are so cute in your last post :)
You'd never guess that was a yard sale find that got a touch up! The chalkboard wreath is the perfect answer for we lazier types! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteI think both wreaths are fantastic! No one would ever know you only paid 50 cents. Maybe, just maybe, you're smarter than the rest of us! ;D
ReplyDeleteWell you know I am truly the laziest of them all Bliss. Your wreath is adorable, looks like a million and one 50 cents!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with working with what ya got! You've elevated a .50 wreath to just what you needed...which is more important than how much it cost in the first place. I like the chalkboard platter as welcome sign, and am so lazy I might rip that one off :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic and every bit as good as the wreath that took hours and much more money. I my friend, am a lazy crafter as well. This is probably why I have more than average epic craft fails. No patience. Been thinking about that Fall wreath today, we will see if it actually makes it from my Pinterest board into my home.....
ReplyDeleteIt may have cost you 50 cents but looks like you spent $50. I love it. These lazy craft projects are truly the best. As my kinfold would say....thats dagburn perdy. :)
ReplyDeleteOne question - how much was it?!
ReplyDeleteKelly
Gotta love a cheap wreath... ;-)
ReplyDeletexo Heidi
LOVE it, Bliss! Makes me want to make a fall wreath! (But then again, I'm fighting that lazy thing too. LOL!)
ReplyDeleteThat's a mighty fine 50 cent wreath. I gotta say I saw all the wreaths you pinned and wondered if you were actually gonna make one...then you went and made 2. Now I gotta remove your name from the project procrastinator pool :)
ReplyDeleteI went out and bought some supplies today for a fall wreath, but it definitely didn't cost me 50 cents!
ReplyDeleteIt hit triple digits over the weekend again, but that didn't stop me from pulling out all my fall stuff in the basement! I love this - had to pin it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking fall here at StoneGable! And your great cheap wreath is really a fabulous find! I love the way to embellished it to go from a 50 cent wreath to one that looks like a million! Please share this at TUTORIAL TIPS AND TIDBITS! Link goes live Wednesday at 8:00 pm. Lots of fall inspiration!
ReplyDeleteIt's on my 'todo' list this week.. so i reckon sometime in the dead of winter, i'll get around to it. haha.
ReplyDeleteJan @Door251.com
I'm a lazy crafter too. I'm way too impatient to spend hours on a project! This is my kind of wreath! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad fall is here!
ReplyDeleteThat's the best-lookin' 50 cent wreath I ever done saw! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't even begun to think about fall decor....guess I'd better busy huh? Love your little wreath! I can't believe it was only $.50.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
~Des
That 4 and the ribbon just make it! Love it!! I'm not ready to pull out the fall decorations but I'm getting THIS close!! That chalkboard on the front door is too cute....fun for all kinds of messages like GO AWAY! hee hee!
ReplyDeleteNow that's my kind of laziness!
ReplyDeleteI might be a princess of lazy crafters, since you are the queen:) Can't go wrong with 50cents!
ReplyDeleteI just "made" my fall wreath, my husband is already upset about how "bloggy" the house is becoming:)
Jessica
Sorry, how much was it Mrs. B, it looks very expensive and you neglected to say how much it cost lol !
ReplyDeleteI see my joke is old hat (now that I've actually read your other comments). I would have got here sooner, and put my comment in first, if I wasn't so lazy !
ReplyDeleteOh shoot, I need to get off Pinterest and do some more fall decorating. Your's looks great. Love the silver tray chalkboard. laurie
ReplyDeleteGotta love 50¢ stuff. Love how you dressed it up.
ReplyDeleteBlessings.
Audrey Z.
A wreath here. A wreath there. I keep hoping that one of you wreath-makers and show-offers will inspire me to get my house all fall-i-fied. I keep talking, but I'm not doing!
ReplyDeleteNo thats one serious pinterest collection. My favorite is the white mittens with greenery.
ReplyDeleteKristy @ 4 the love of WOOD
Fr@#$% ..... that should say "NOW that's a serious pinterest collection."
ReplyDeleteGod Bless it! You're WAY ahead of me...
ReplyDeleteCan't beat fifty cents with a stick ;) great job :)
ReplyDeleteJoAnn
What a bargain! Geez! But I'm really in love with the silver platter with the chalk paint. Brilliant!!
