A few weeks ago I made a sign for a certain 4 year old who is beautiful inside and out, and while I normally would piece together my own words or sayings - at which I've been known to spend hours doing - I didn't have hours in December.
And as it turns out I didn't need hours after I saw this free printable perfect for a little girl of great worth who can do hard things and make good choices.
I had a couple thoughts about this sign...something major and something not so major.
The minor thing: I wanted the sign to be big. As in above your new bed in your new room in your new house big.
The major thing: It needed to be a positive message that applied to every day, something I wanted her to take to heart and believe.
It's about 4 feet long by around 2 1/2 feet tall, and everything on it is to be believed for this child with amazing potential whom I love so very much.
It started out being cut in the garage and then framed to my size specifications with the total I was looking for, thanks to the man with the power tools.
I gave it a coat of Maison Blanche Wrought Iron black with a little Maison Blanche chocolate brushed on in spots so the letters would look a little worn and have some depth.
I wanted the pink only in certain spots so I painted it over the black, but under the letters and gave the whole thing a couple coats of white.
Then I set it aside to dry and worked on the other projects that occupied my table through the month of December.
Eventually the letters were peeled, I gave it a very light sanding so as not to distress it too much, and the lettered part was waxed with a coat of Maison Blanche wax in clear.
For the frame I distressed it just a bit and gave it a coat of Maison Blanche dark wax so that there would be a contrast.
And in the end it was wrapped and placed by the tree for that certain little 4 year old, to hang in her new house above her new bed in her new room.
I signed the back of it with the date and wrote to her that I always want her to believe these words.
Because they are true.
I positively affirm I am linking this sign up at these parties:
