I started a Christmas gift for my BFF who lives along the beautiful Northern California coast.

Building Progress Two Months In
Anyone who has ever built a new home can close their eyes and still smell the fresh scent of the pine wall studs.
I know I can, and walking into #1 sons house as it was being framed took me back to the time I first encountered that smell. I loved that smell then and I love it now.

Sunday
Blooming Hydrangea
I've been waiting so long I can't remember if it happened before.
I anticipated it every year for the last four or five years, and for whatever reason, it just.didn't.happen.
Friday
Man Overboard - Dumpster Finds
I recently mentioned that furniture finds have been making their way to me.
My kids, friends, and even strangers have started to look at discarded items as a potential project for me.
They probably think there is no way that a certain piece of junk can be turned into something anyone would want, so they drop it off at my doorstep to try to prove their point.
Or maybe it's out of curiosity to see if I can in fact transform the item.
My philosophy has become bring me your junk, if it's THAT bad that I can't turn it into a treasure, I know how to light a match, and we always need kindling in the winter.

Wednesday
Wood Clock Redo/Thrift Store Decor
The something old is a new to me thrifted item that once a month I'll spruce up. You know I like challenges whether it's furniture or some other cast off I can update.
The new is that I'm joining eight other bloggers for this last Wednesday of the month series called Thrift Store Decor, and I'm pretty darn excited to be part it!

Monday
Orange Garage Sale Traffic Cones
I went out on the usual Friday thrifting with my pal Dii (hi Dii!) and the finds for the day were mostly a bust.
No that does not mean I found a bust at a thrift store or garage sale.
Nothing much good to be found other than the salted caramel truffle ice cream we both had instead of lunch.
No photos of those, you gotta eat them fast in the summer heat.

Saturday
Barn Wood Whale
Today when I downloaded the photos from my camera there were photos I didn't remember taking.
Because I didn't take them.
This is the second time that's happened this month.
My family is learning not only to save free furniture finds in case I can create something, but also when they make a project they are remembering to take photos.
I thank them for doing that because it's not really any work for me.
Thursday
Orange Marquee Letters
A couple months ago I purchased a new rug for the family room in my quest to actually decorate with color.
I know what I like when I see something in someone elses house, but I don't always do so good picking out my own things.
But the rug.........I got it right.
And it's orange.
Adding some color to my otherwise beige toned home was sort of earth shattering for the people that know me.
