Part of that actually took place. I may or may not have scrubbed the rocks enough to get the cement grout off.
Recall the almost done picture where we sorta did the mailbox but not the post because we had to get the big black box reattached to the post so the mailman could deliver.
We didn't have any gray paint so a little white with black was mixed up in an old quart size container. Just enough to paint and repaint a couple times when spring arrives.
I wasted no time at the end of the driveway, you know I didn't want all the neighbors to see me in a beanie cap hiding my messy hair, with the red Popeye jammie bottoms I was wearing.
No selfie of me in red Popeye jammie bottoms. I realize how disappointed you must be.
Previously I picked up a $3.00 bouquet of fake flowers and sprayed them with some sealer.
They only have to last one season and it's cheaper then pretending to take care of real flowers that end up dead because I was too lazy to walk 1/4 miles to water them.
The last pathetic group of buds stayed on the mailbox for 5 years. They looked like crap by the time I got around to replacing them of course, so there is a good chance I will get a few years mileage out of this bunch if I remove them when Winter gets here.
Mailbox newly rocked and grouted to blend with the stone pillars, faux flowers in place, new landscape rocks and freshly painted gray post and roof.
As done as it's gonna get and much better than it was.
Bliss, you've got mail!

i love this! it's unique and pretty! can you make me one?
ReplyDeleteI want one too!
ReplyDeleteLove it Bliss! I share a post with my neighbor, so maybe I should go introduce myself and see if I can makeover her mailbox too. I am hugely disappointed that we didn't get to see you in your popeye jammies.
ReplyDeleteHow fun. I bet the mail person will love the change too, especially since she/he doesn't have to view your PJ's! :)
ReplyDeletePretty Bliss - ( hey Mr Postman look and see......................)

Yes, your mailbox is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering how it is that I never pegged you as the Popeye type.
I thought I knew you!!!
That REALLY looks great, Bliss...I am a mailbox slacker. Popeye!
ReplyDeleteLUV!
ReplyDeleteI'm SO doing this for the farmhouse!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have a grand entrance to your property! How nice. Love the idea of putting flowers in your mailbox like that too.
ReplyDeleteCute! 1/4 mile? Okay, I'll quit fussing about my little hill I have to walk down to get mail. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I was a shrinky dink, would you let me live in there?? It's perfection, Bliss!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! If you get that fitbit, that 1/4 mile will really help you get those steps...
ReplyDeleteLooking good! My mailbox is across the street in my neighbor's yard so it's pretty plain!
ReplyDeleteI think the fakes are a great idea. Flowers planted like this tend to not flourish, whether you walk the 1/4 mile to the mailbox to water them or not. The mailbox looks fab. I'm trying to figure out what the yellow ball thingie isi for????
ReplyDeleteYou make me wish I had a mailbox to do over. Love it!
ReplyDeleteBliss this really turned out great. I would have loved to have seen a selfie of those pajama bottoms!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
How beautiful! I love the rocks and your flowers are the perfect addition.
ReplyDeletewoohoo! it's the little things in life that make the big difference!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one that does diy outside in my jammies!
It looks great Bliss! The yellow ball thingy caught my eye too...
ReplyDeleteOk, so what is the yellow bally thing, and why is there a box underneath ? Do newspapers go in there ?
ReplyDeleteLooks great by the way, nobody knows but us and your close friends, that it truly reflects your home - grey and rocks !
Great looking mailbox. I'm sure your husband made it and it's a one of a kind. The flowers are a very nice touch.
