Old Furniture Came Calling

Last weekend a text came in from Daughter #1:

Freebies to Paint, Bliss-Ranch.com

I pictured her and her husband driving along, spotting stuff and thinking of me.

It was a bit more convenient than that for her - she was at her father in laws and he had some old furniture to burn.

Her and her husband have seen enough furniture redos by now to know that most anything can turn out good in spite of how ugly it might start out.

They thought I might want to rescue these pieces so loaded 'em up on their trailer and delivered them to my shed.

The desk has all the drawers, and though dirty, is in good shape.  I like that rope trim along the top as well as the hardware.

There was a pine wood table my daughter in law said looked like one all the kids had made in shop when she was in school.  It was headed to burn it along with that corner shelf, but I decided the pine table could live a bit longer.

I don't need anything that size but it's perfect for adding some lettering on the top.

For now it's in the shed with the other 9,999,999.99 things waiting for a redo.

I think I'm going to paint this louvered door cabinet and send it to live in Daughter #1's laundry room for supplies.

It's about 4 feet high, needs a little work, but I think I can make something of it.

And the "crappy windows" her text mentioned?

We decided we know where they are if we want more to stack on top of what I already have that I don't know what to do with.

  1. It's wonderful to have kids who know you so well. Looks like treasure, not trash, to me.

I have that exact desk! Except mine has deep bottom drawers. I've been trying to decide what to do with it since we don't use it as a desk. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

  4. I had a desk like that a few years ago and absolutely loved it!! And the shuttered cabinet?? Don't be surprised if you hear someone in the shed. It's just a raccoon. Or a wayward duck.

  14. I love what we do! Stuff just shows up around here. I walked out of the house to go to the post office yesterday and found 2 cute (old) side tables on my patio. I have NO idea where they came from or who put them there. LOL

Windows? yeah, I took on way more than I need last year. Still sitting on sawhorses waiting to be used.

    love your new stuff Bliss!

  16. It seems that many people just throw away furniture that they don't like. I'm happy that you don't. There is so much that you can do when it comes to old furniture. Old doesn't always equal not being able to be used. On the contrary, it can be a great asset to your house if you know how to restore it. http://www.rosestreasurechest.net/np1-listing-dept-46020
