Maison Blanche Debutante Pink Play Kitchen

Let's see now... I posted about plans to make a play kitchen back in March.

I included crazy cute ones from my Pinterest board for inspiration.

I had been stalking cast off entertainment centers and nightstands, but ultimately it needed to be compact in size, so nightstand won.

Plus I got a two'fer - two nightstands for a song.

A certain 3 year old hovered around me while I took these photos, more than ready to do a little cooking in the summer shade.

She was captivated by the tiny clay pot on the windowsill.

I wanted this play kitchen to be a "cost next to nothing project", and thanks to Maison Blanche for supplying the paint I was able to meet that goal.

I knew just what colors it would become, using Maison Blanche Vintage no prep paint.

The creamiest Ivory white.... and Debutante, the perfect soft pink.

I gathered some girly vintage looking things to contribute to the cause.

The spice tin was in the back of the drawer that holds my foil and plastic wrap.

Faux wallpaper was easy to accomplish with Maison Blanche paint, if I messed up the lines, quick dry time meant I could just paint over it and still get my re-stripe done fast.

I started with a pink metal bin that I picked up at a garage sale.  It was full of Easter grass, but the bin called to me saying, "I'm a sink".

A .97¢ sink strainer from WalMart gives it that sinky looky, don't you thinky?

Someone updated their bathroom and put a heavy brass faucet in a free box, which was fine with me.

I painted the front of the kitchen with the Maison Blanche Debutante Pink, then did a wash of the Ivory over it for a worn, but not distressed look.

I finished the whole thing with clear wax.

I considered doing a glaze on this.  The Maison Blanche line includes glaze, but I have never used glaze before and I got cold feet, maybe next project.

Oven knobs were also in a free box, only three of them, just enough for two front burners and an oven.

Old wood dowels from the wood bin in the garage received a coat of shiny silver spray paint and became refrigerator and oven handles.

A side chalkboard made with left over reflective mailbox letters keeps a grocery list organized for quick shopping trips around the yard.

This little kitchen is the perfect spot for some fresh squeezed orange juice made with a little metal juicer, mostly because the kitchen princess is too young for tea in the summer.

The kitchen princess ate that orange prop when photos were done.

Just a few fabric scraps - a bit of muslin, some old lace - were ripped and tied on a board for a no-sew valance.

Next week I will give you the details of the nightstand to play kitchen conversion, show the before with the after of what a fine job Maison Blanche paint did, along with the oven, fridge and burner details.  Until then if you want to guess how much this budget makeover cost you can leave your guess in the comments.

And that certain 3 year old?

Well she had a swim and a sandwich, while she wrapped me around her finger.

Last month myself and the other Maison Blanche painting blogs used Navy paint and created wonderful projects for June.

I wonder what they have created for July?

It's a surprise for me too, so make sure and stop in at each of the blogs listed below, because I know they've cooked up something special for you too!

  16. Oh my. Once again, you slay me. And you know what it is about this? (And the mud pie stand, too?) Is the level of detail. THAT'S what makes the difference between your projects and anyone else's similar project. Amazing. Ridiculously amazing. (I would love a grandchild. Can I have one of yours? Blonde is perfect.)
