Right from the comfort of my own yard.
If you were driving out my driveway this would be your view.
Before you went on your way, you would pause a moment and wonder how cold the water was getting now that hot summer days have passed.
We don't get to enjoy these colors for near long enough, but we appreciate them while they are here.
I painted several projects outside the past few weeks just to enjoy the season with the trees in full color.
There is a view out of each window in the house, and the leaves have scattered across every deck or patio.
We had more golds and yellows this year than bright reds and pinks.
Shrubs and low bushes will soon be naked, and the corn field in the distance will be harvested and turned into a view of rich dark dirt.
The cold frozen white stuff can follow fast on the heals of raking leaves, but we always hope it won't.
Sometimes not all the leaves blow away and we find them again when the winter snow melts.
I'll wait for the last leaf to fall, then me, a rake, a leaf blower and a few helpers will banish the vibrant crunchy shapes back out to the woods where they will settle on the ground and turn brown, till spring rolls around and new green growth once again pushes through those spent fallen leaves.
Every year about the beginning of November, I'm excited for Spring ........
because Winter's coming.
And I'm never excited for that!

Beautiful photos Bliss! Loving all the fall colour this year.
ReplyDeleteThese are GORGEOUS! I suppose your beautiful fall is a trade-off for all that blasted winter?
ReplyDeletesuch pretty pictures. is that your corn field? I love this time of the year, winter...not so much, even here in georgia.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful view you have everyday.
ReplyDeleteI have tons of leaves, not they aren't as pretty as yours!
As I am raking I swear they are laughing as more fall behind me!
Laura-
Wow....just gorgeous, what beautiful views all around! I just wait for the wind to blow away the leaves...and it always does...thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteHere's to spring! I think the swingset surrounded by yellow photo is suitable for blowing up and framing. What a wonderful personal photo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!! The only reason I'm looking forward to winter is because I really want to get the dang interior of our house completed. Then, in the Spring, we can work on the outside projects. The Ranch is gorgeous. :)

Your property is so pretty! The Fall color there is truly beautiful. That's one thing that we don't get as much of here in the south. We get color but it's just not as brilliant. It seems to be mixed with green because of the pine trees here. Wish I lived on private property like that. I have to get "dressed" to go outside because my neighbors are so close.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! But you also have me thinking of Game of Thrones ("Winter Is Coming") is the key phrase that is always said and I've been waiting and waiting for it to finally arrive. And I have to wait until sometime in 2015 for the next series installment ...
ReplyDelete:) Linda
You have a little piece of heaven there!
ReplyDeleteYour trees are beautiful...our maple in the back is still green, but I'm sure not for long...they are forecasting possible snow flurries for tomorrow night here in Ontario...I hope the little ones don't "freeze" as they collect their candy!!

I'm never excited about winter either, except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - the rest of the year I wish it was any of the other 3 seasons. It's been so gorgeous in my neck of the woods, I've been shooting lots of outdoor photos as well. Your home, yard and scenery all look so beautiful...just BLISSful!
ReplyDeleteYep. I can totally relate to your story. This year I made a concerted effort to enjoy fall. And it worked. It has been a good one. I wore shorts yesterday and will probably wear them until it doesn't get over 50 during the day. I'm not sure if I can fit in my jeans. Dammit! Hope the snow stays away for you and you have lots of projects lined up for the indoors this winter.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful in your neck of the woods, Bliss...we have had a wonderful fall. It still looks like fall out back here...but out front it is bare. And it starting to feel like winter is coming, too! Hope you have a fun Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI love your Fall photos. I was driving to work today and was commenting how beautiful all the trees look. We have a big storm coming this weekend and they will all be blown away. Thank you for the lovely pics!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The Land of Bliss is breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteBliss what gorgeous photos and colors. We have one tree in our front yard and we have leaves everywhere, LOL. Waiting for landscaping for next spring

These are beautiful!! Fall is always too short!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, Bliss! We have been enjoying the wonderful colors, as well. It's been a warm, fantastic Fall this year!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of the land surrounding your home! Most of our leaves have been raked up and as you said, the snow is soon to follow. It's been snowing on and off all week, and little bits of white can be seen in the shaded areas. After we turn our clocks back, it will truly feel like fall when I hardly see daylight on the days I work. Enjoy the last of your autumn colors!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! I could smell those gorgeous golden leaves. I miss a true fall. Living in Dallas.... there is no fall. Only a few hours of color changes and then poof, it's gone. Have a wonderful November, Bliss!
ReplyDeleteYou live in a beautiful place. I'm catching up (reading backwards). I'm not seeing your blog pop up on my reader (Bloglovin') lately.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful colours and breathtaking views.
