LED Retrofit Kitchen Lights

I've seen the light.

The white LED light that is..... and it's good.

Thanks to Westside Wholesale and retrofit LED kits from Halo Lighting, gone are the Bliss Ranch flood lights that cast a dingy yellow glow upon all of our kitchen.

Old flood lights that were replaced
I can be a little set in my ways sometimes.

So as I was hearing about replacing bulbs with LED ones that will save me money I first needed to know I would like the light my kitchen would be cast in.

Saving money wasn't going to be that great if I didn't like the light that would be shining down on me while I sliced and diced.

But I was thinking, "ohhhh man, I don't wanna replace all six of those fixtures - that would be a chore".

So I ate cheese-its and watched while Brawn stood on a ladder with his arms in the air, and changed the old flood lights out.

He used Halo recessed lighting  (click to check them out), retrofitted kits that made it easy, and the best part is the previously installed fixture does not have to be replaced.

Brawn has 30 years of electrical experience, so he was able to do this on his own, but you might need to have an electrician help you out depending on the knowledge base of wiring at your house.

A couple wires are attached, a new part screws in and the rest of the light is easily installed.

At least it seemed easy from where I was sitting munching on my snack with my camera on my lap.

The LED lighting kits come with the ring attached, a one piece deal, and to the naked eye you can not even tell the light fixture has been changed.

After installation, you will notice a difference in the light you see.  LED casts a whiter glow than I was used too, it's brighter, a happier feeling, but not a harsh white.

So how does the person who is a little set in her ways feel about the new white LED lights?

I love them!

I like the cast the new white light shines in our kitchen, as well as the look of the retrofit outside component.

We like them so much we also retrofitted the can lights in a long hallway, and we have a couple other recessed lights on the list to replace.

Since our kitchen lights tend to be on all the time, I'm anxious to see the savings on our electric bill, plus LED will burn much much longer which means no more constantly replacing the flood bulbs.

I will probably order some more soon to take advantage of holiday savings, and maybe even give a couple as gifts to the married offspring.  You can check the kits out yourself on the Westside Wholesale web site, plus they've got lots of other things besides lights.

These little LED's of mine, I'm gonna let 'em shine.......

  3. Awesome! I think I need to replace the one we have in the kitchen. It's always on too and it seems to burn out weekly!

  4. We have LED spotlights outside, and now I'm wondering if there are some for our "fish eyes" in the kitchen.

  6. I need to change mine out so this is nice and timely! But....what size box of Cheeze-Its comes with the kit?.....that could be the deal breaker.....

  8. Oooooh, I do not love the recessed lighting downstairs in my family room....perhaps you have solved this problem for me! Thank you! (Could I please borrow Brawn??)

  9. I am glad that you wisely told me not to try this on my own. I don't even have the original holes for the old kind, and sometimes I get a wild hare/hair and begin a project for which I am not qualified - such as replumbing the bathroom sink, or cutting my own bangs.

  10. Sounds like those lights are a hit! Glad to hear that you like them after your husband installed them. Would've been a bummer if you didn't. LOL!

  13. I replaced our recessed light over our sink with a pendant kit, but it didn't work out because our soffit is too low, so this looks like a good option for me. I'm going to have to get on the LED bandwagon eventually!

  14. We have those ugly eyeball looking lights.. I wonder if we can replace the ball thingy with the LED thingys??? And I wonder if we have to cut holes in the attic to get to the lights??? And my husband is an electrician... the struggle.

  15. Great idea, Bliss! And it doesn't look like it was a major thing to change them out!

  16. We put all LED lighting in our house (with just a few exceptions). They're more money up-front, but I love that we'll be dead before they have to be replaced.

Did I just say I will love to be dead? there's something wrong with me.

  17. Here it is, in all it's raw glory. I ordered this straight from China, since in the US, apparently there is a conspiracy to ensure a steady stream of T8 bulb sales, and there is no such product available.ledconceptslighting

  18. This particular lighting setup is very inexpensive, fairly portable and provides a good quality of light for portraits. led lighting
