For the past couple weeks I have been making mini furniture and wall art, and some of it is so darn cute I can't stand it!
I'll probably save many of the furniture redo's for the room reveals as I participate in the Dollhouse Therapy Challenge, but from time to time as I move through the weeks I'll show you a few of the makeovers on the Goodwill junk I picked up.
Like this little duck sided display shelf.......

Part of the fun in transforming these mini furniture finds is the quick turnaround in completing them.
A mini project not only takes just a few brush strokes, it takes up less space on my dining room table and in the wink of an eye the project is done.
The same paint products I use on full size furniture is being used on the mini stuff, so this little duck shelf was painted with Fusion Mineral Paint in Picket Fence, and waxed with the Fusion beeswax.
At first I passed by this shelf at Goodwill, only giving it a glance.
My vision for the dollhouse didn't include any ducks, or as I affectionately refer to the real ducks that roam our yard - crapping quackers.
But when I circled back around to that isle I took a second look and decided maybe the duck shelf would be perfect for the dollhouse nursery.
My daughter has more beads than a bead store, and these little metal letters that spell baby were glued on top, and suddenly the ducks didn't look so bad.
The ugly duckling shelf sporting its fresh paint job with a hint of distressing on the edges was the easiest redo I've ever done.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, LOVE it! So sweet. I have such a weakness for anything in miniature.
ReplyDeleteThat is so incredibly sweet! the "blocks" are perfect. I love old "finds" because, after all, who DOESN'T need a duck shelf?! xo
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, dollhouses terrify me and I don't know why. But if anyone can cure my phobia it's you. I might even go so far as to say I'm looking forward to seeing what's next??

ReplyDeleteI'm a very driven, ambitious, positive person. But I'm a spiritual person as well. I believe in creative visualization. So for me to go to America - which I find such a positive place - well, I took to it like a duck to water.
