It's the most wonderful time of the year for more reasons than one. We have lots of traditions here, but one of the oldest takes place before bed on Christmas Eve.
If you look closely there is no baby in the manger. Jesus wasn't born till Christmas Day, so for over 20 years on Christmas Eve when all is still, I or one of the kids lay Him in his bed.
The stable was a gift from child #5 when he was about 10 years old. He made it for me because he knew I wanted one the right size for our nativity. I love it.
The stockings are hung, the treats are made, most of the presents are wrapped, and the last of the homemade gifts are waiting for their finishing touches.
All is quiet. Well not really, it's rarely quiet here!

I just bought a nativity scene with no Jesus because someone stole him. Now I have the perfect excuse for why he's missing. Thank you for that. Your tree is wonderful and I love the manger. Your family is so creative. I pinned the Santa sign. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! I love your tradition. Never quiet here either, but I would not have it any other way. Merry Christmas my dear friend!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful tree and a special tradition. I love, love the stable. Merry Christmas to all of you! xo
ReplyDeleteI love that tradition! The stable is lovely & it's so special that it was made just for the space. A very Merry Christmas to you & your family!
ReplyDeleteAll looks calm and bright!! Our baby Jesus always falls out of Mary's arms so I think he's just not ready to be born. I guess I need a manger. Love the fluffy-snowy Nativity scene!!
ReplyDeleteWe do the same thing with our nativity. I remember being a little kid and watching my Nana at midnight (when i should have been asleep) put the baby in the manger. We do it a bit different here. My husband hides the baby from me (usually somewhere up high where I will never find it) and it magically appears in the manger Christmas morning. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYour tree is absolutely gorgeous! Love the nativity too! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYour tree is fabulous - is that vintage tinsel? And child #5 should be proud of their woodworking skills.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very merry Christmas.

Hope you had a fabulous Christmas. I've been "blogging by phone" over the holidays. My downgraded phone since the mugging is great for reading, but not much for commenting.
ReplyDeleteYour tree was beautiful. I am sure your house is still one that your kids love coming home to for the holidays (those that have left the nest). It looks like the kind of house that should be shown in a feel good Christmas movie. It really is beautiful.
