"If" I had a vision for what I was doing on the dining room redo, I've lost it.
So in place of a dining room reveal, how about a tour of a bathroom. I'm not cleaning it first so if you look hard you'll see dust.
Brawn's first attempt at poured concrete counters are in this guest bathroom. Saved a bundle on his idea.
The floors are natural stone that match the pillars in our dining room as well as our family room fireplace. The pottery is made by one of my kids, not sure which one, but I have narrowed it down to either #3 or #4.
Recall that little chest, I got it for I think $5.00 and gave it an up-doo - it had trains on it. Now it holds my chalk paint and waxes, because isn't the bathroom where everyone keeps their paint supplies? I use the little chair to sit and read to a certain 2 year old in training. Last week she wanted to come in and read to me. Cracked. Me. Up.
Our house has lots of rustic decor. I love the white, crisp French look, I just don't have any of it.
This bathroom used to lead out to a deck that went to our pool. When the kids were small they could access the bathroom without dripping water across the whole house, and all the pegs would hold the wet towels. Now they hold tools. You can still walk out on to a deck, but it no longer leads to the pool unless you jump over a railing and plunge 10 feet down.
The knobs went in the basket till I found something to do with them. I may never move them. We have a card playing friend who asks every time he uses that bathroom "what's the deal with the old door knobs?".
He never asks about the vintage package of toilet paper.
I picked up this can last year at Junk Bonanza. It would be great for so many things, but I parked it there for trash, and that's where it stayed.
The legs on the vanity are from one of our Christmas trees that Brawn de-barked.
And while you are sitting and relaxing, this old original movie poster is directly in front of you. The writing gives you something to read, unless a 2 year old insists on reading Walter the Farting Dog to you.
He held his knife at the frontiers throat....it's treasure in his arms! Ah ha ha ha ha, old Hollywood is funny.

Your photos are absolutely beautiful! I would love to have this bathroom in my own home!
ReplyDeleteBliss your bathroom is beautiful...I LOVE your floors and the hubs did a fabulous job on that concrete countertop!
ReplyDeleteI want to put tiles like that in my kitchen and entry.
LOVE the 'stop, drop, and roll'!! he he I hear ya on the dining room thing... mine's been waiting since the new floor and paint in December...
ReplyDeleteYou have a great... and very unique bathroom! Great interest. I wish I could see a closer shot of the sink. Sounds so interesting! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous bathroom! I love it ALL..those countertops and your vanity, (oh, your vanity..tee hee), the legs, the artwork the vintage touches. Bravo!! Now get back to the dining room!!! We're waiting....
ReplyDeleteHow did you move your pool?
It's really lovely, as are all the details. Christmas tree trunk vanity legs? Y'all are genius.
ReplyDeleteYou better not invite me to the ranch anytime soon, or you might discover that metal basket over your pot turns up missing. Actually, the trash can and cute little thing of t.p. could disappear as well. I love the whole room, but that "stop, drop and roll" sign is the best!
ReplyDelete~Angie
I love how much personality your bathroom has! The vintage tools, the old signs, the rustic vanity. It all goes together so nicely. I laughed at the line you said how you love all white french rooms, but you have none of it. Too funny! The poured concrete countertop/sink area is wonderful. I have a faucet like yours in my kitchen too.
ReplyDeleteI could sit in your bathroom all day just admiring all your lovely things!
ReplyDeleteI love your bathroom and your decorating style! Looks great! Plus, the lit' bit about Walter the Farting Dog cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteLove the decor and design! I've always wanted concrete counters, yours look awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see someone else with cattle in their bathroom. Cute room!
ReplyDeleteWalter The Farting Dog. Snort.
ReplyDeleteBrawn did a fine job on that concrete counter.
Love all your fun things in there...it would keep me entertained for awhile.
Plus, there is plenty of room for the dogs.
Yours come with you, too, don't they?
What? Martha Hyer AND Walter the Farting Dog on a double billing??? How can one woman handle all of that wonderfulness?? I'm surprised that you are still vertical!
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of when I was a kid...my mom would give us chores on Saturday while she and dad went to run errands and get groceries...my brother ALWAYS tried to get out of his share of work...claiming he had to "go to the bathroom"
...Your dining room is waiting. As soon as you come out of the bathroom!
I do like it. I have to ask...a black toilet seat and lid? Is this a DIY or did you purchase it this way?
-Corn
Procrastinator :). Your bathroom holds so many interesting things, I am sure a few of your guests have spent more time than necessary in there just poking around. Your bathroom is lovely especially with details like the legs of the vanity being one of your old Christmas tree trunks debarked. How special is that? I smiled at the stories of the 2 year old. It wasn't too long ago I was doing that with Grace :)
ReplyDeleteDon't get your pants in a bundle over the dining room. You've still got another 7 years or so. Your concrete countertop is gorgeous! I'm still laughing at the picture of your friend sitting on the throne, holding a doorknob and wondering how he's supposed to use it. In the bathroom. hehehe
ReplyDeletesuch pretty photos of BATHROOM! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your bathroom Bliss!
ReplyDeleteI love your bathroom...especially the knobs...and the trash can. So, are we gonna have a tour of your bedroom next or are you gonna do the dining room so that we can see the FABULOUS paint...cuz I KNOW that it's amazing and you're just not sharing because you're keeping it all to yourself...don't be selfish....xo

If I could only decorate any room in my house as well as you do your bathroom. Did you let her read to you?? And what do you read? Something about rain I'm sure :).
ReplyDeleteLove you paint storage! and the bathroom is pretty awesome too!!! ;) My grandsons like for you to come in and talk to them! Crazy, I know!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Forget the French all-white look. Your guest bathroom blows that away. Just adore all the touches ... and the gorgeous photos!
ReplyDelete:) Linda
Lovely! And your two year old cracks me up! How funny!
ReplyDeleteThe movie poster cracks me up. Pretty steamy there in the bathroom ;-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all your lovelies; especially that chest. That is wonderful with the spoon on the front! very Cool! Love all the textures! I have a grandson to train soon. I will remember the book reading tips.
ReplyDeleteSuch a unique bathroom and I love the sink and stone floors! Re doing a room is overwhelming so in understand wanting to avoid it ;)
ReplyDeleteLeslie
Love everything about it!! It's difficult to pinpoint one thing but that chest is the bomb. It would look stunning here in Texas! :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the grandson ~ I tried reading to my daughter and she would just sit and enjoy the experience, not the "experience" I wanted for her either.
xo
Pat
How did I know you would have a bitchen Blissafied bathroom?
ReplyDeleteBecause it is. Super cool, cute and just the right rustic touches.
You rock lady.
Love the "crisp white French" look too, yet I also have none of it.
Hmm.. ?
Hugs-Shan
Wow! That is one fantastic bathroom! I would like to know more about that poured concrete counter. I'd like to convince Sam to try it! Love all the tools and the cute little chair. (My grandson asked me if I "wiped good" the last time I came out of the bathroom. Gotta love em!) Wow...you have antique toilet paper!? Love the "Stop Drop and Roll" sign. Who knew Barbara Rush was the treasure of the frontier?! Your bathroom look awesome...the only way you'll see mine is if you need to use it.
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of room! That basket over the toilet is wonderful! How is it that you have so many of those ice tongs? I want one and every time I find them they are like sixty bucks! Can't do that. Love it that grandchild wants to read to you while you pee. Would you believe that my daughter potty trained herself at 18 months?
DeleteI love your LeBain Bliss. What a cool looking floor too, and the sink..even cooler!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great room, Bliss...so much personality...and I have serious concrete countertop envy!
ReplyDeleteDarn girl, this is great. I love it all. Do you loan Brawn out,I want the counter and sink, the ice tongs, sad to say I sold mine during some tough times, used mine for paper towel...and the baskets I love every little detail....and the book reading, when you have kids around can you ever pee in private lol
ReplyDeleteThat is a bathroom I would totally feel comfortable in. Is that TMI? I wouldn't mind reading that book either. I love all the little hand crafted details. Hello? What does Brawn not do???
ReplyDelete"The toilet seat was forged from an old porcelain bowl we came across at a garage sale, Brawn drilled the right hole and attached the plumbing, the floor tiles were hewn out of the piece of travertine that is in the quarry a few miles away. Brawn likes to take on these sort of tasks in his spare time.....The faucet was made by Brawn in his iron mill, which he likes to dabble in when he is between projects, and oh yeah, the pottery and all of our dishes were made by I think numbers 3 and 5 of our children. Not the one who makes the amazing cake testers".
Geesh, I wish your kids would do something interesting too!
Hey Bliss; The more that I see of your Stunning Home, the more that I want to move in!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou and your Husband are so Artistic, and so full of Interesting, Beautiful Ideas!!!!
Thank-You so much for sharing, as Everything that I have seen looks just Beautiful!!! :-)
Thank you Sunny. Did you know you are a no reply blogger? I can't comment via email the way I do to all my other comments. If you want help fixing that drop me a note.

Love this bathroom! I mean, who wouldn't love a place where you can store your paint supplies, admire old doorknobs and vintage tp all while listening to the age old story of Walter the Farting Dog (which my girls and I used to read every night - along with Walter's sequels)!
ReplyDeleteThose Christmas tree stump legs on the vanity - Santa would be proud!
Kelly
First of all, get back on that dining room miss Bliss... I love the "so far" and pull an all nighter this weekend and get-er done!!! :o) Second, I love your bathroom, I may need a Brawn! He makes a nice counter top! I love it! :o) Perfect space, painting supplies and all! Happy weekend my friend!
ReplyDeleteJaime
Love your bathroom! Hey, paint's gotta be stored somewhere...why not a cute bench in the bathroom?
ReplyDeleteOur goddaughter had a singing potty...when I mentioned that I was put out that I didn't have a singing potty, her mom suggested I just sing to myself and it'd kinda be the same thing. Hmmm.
:)
Kelly
I'm just glad you didn't get the dining room done yet or you might not have shown us the bathroom. We woulda missed out. I'm loving every single thing! You should rent Brawn out. He's got skills!
ReplyDeleteYou do too, of course, as well as style!
I love the bathroom, love all of the old stuff, the concrete sink is amazing...So, what's with the old door knobs!!!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Oh my GOSH ... I love that bathroom and all the old rustic stuff ... just who does not understand beautiful old door knobs in a wire basket or just anywhere. I certainly do.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures
Your bathroom is gorgeous! Brawn poured the concrete for the counter? Wow, talented...so the sink and counter look to be all one piece?
ReplyDeleteDebbie :)
Hi Bliss! Your bathroom is awesome!! I love every single detail and the story that goes with it... +10 Style,I have to say. I think I could just live in that room. I want to do a poured concrete counter top one day, so now I know where to come for tips. I've been keeping my paint supplies in my dining room buffet, but I think you have me beat. Very rockin bathroom!!! Thanks for showing.
ReplyDeleteLove the bathroom! It truly looks amazing! All the rustic accessories are perfect....but I think my favorite is the license plate!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed and amazing day!
karianne
You are too funny girl! I can go weeks too ... eventually it gets done :)
ReplyDeleteThat is quite the bathroom I must say. Tools, knobs, old toilet paper and paint - I suggest you never leave the 2 year-old unattended in there. I wanted concrete counters for my utility room but couldn't get anybody to jump on board around here and do it for me. I guess I need to acquire the "Bliss Factor."
ReplyDeleteFirst, I love the picture you put up of yourself....very pretty! Second, I want to know more about the concert sink...that thing is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVintage toilet paper?! That is awesome. I have literally NEVER considered what people used to do about toilet paper. Look at you, Bliss, always learnin' me somethin'.
ReplyDeleteOh, Bliss! You're bathroom is so lovely...vintage TP, knobs, train trunk, et al!
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow!!! Love every.single.detail!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting bathroom. Who wouldn't want to sit and stay a spell? I've never seen vintage toilet paper!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm entirely obsessed with this room!
ReplyDeleteI plan on stealing a few ideas-FYI and thank you!!
My, what a lovely stained glass leaf that is featured in the corner of that last photo!
