Painted again. Chalk paint.
And yet parts again. Chalk paint.
They are getting ready to join the table.

From the top of their carved chair backs to the bottom of their ribbed paws...
all six have been rubbed with a wash of oil stain over the chalk paint.
And every one of the lovely, but hated nooks and crannies has had the pleasure of my company.

The seat cushions have been leather-ed.
And one....
one brave chair has been waxed.
Yes blogging buddies, that can only mean one thing........
I STILL HAVE 5 MORE FREAKING CHAIRS TO WAX. (If they ever let me out of the asylum).

ReplyDeleteI had to read this just after I told the Mr, we were going to tackle the 4 side chairs and redo the table top in a plank style. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!

These are going to be amazing! I tried refinishing chairs once and got to the first one, that's about it. Just changed out the seat fabric and I was done. I give you a lot of credit!!!!

ReplyDeleteThe good news is if they never let you out of the asylum, you don't have to do another chair, everrrrr. You arms will be otherwise engaged in your straightjacket and you can enjoy the padded comfort of your chairless cell. Trade offs!

ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. That's why I stopped after two coats of paint and left two chairs in the garage until summer. Your chairs have a very professional looking finish, so it will be worth it in the end!

Ah yes! I know how difficult it is to paint one chair let alone 6! You have my sympathies. I know they will look great though when they're done. I've been busy making some paint changes too (which I will unveil soon) and it reminded me of how much easier it was in the planning stage than the actual painting stage. And you know once that paint brush touches your furniture/project you're committed! There's no going back now.

Feeling your pain I have said the same...and yet alas I go back. I really am not into pain but I seem to push myself their...I love can I say am envious I would love to paint our table and chairs...classic oak was my mother in law...2 leaves huge and 6 chairs but my hubby is a purist...so alas I play for others...again can't wait for the professional revel....will be simply classic

ReplyDeleteSo glad my six chairs have no carving, no excessively curvy curves, nothing to make me feel crazy. But I probably will anyway. Six of anything is too many. But I'm committed now..........sigh. Can't just stop when we want to, can we? Must push on to the end. Maybe it's like having a baby, you don't really remember the pain when you stroke the new baby's cheek. Be sure to stroke your chairs and feel proud for producing such beautiful offspring. LOL
Just think of the calories you're burning... X 6!! It does look gorgeous now!!

ReplyDeleteOh My! You poor thing! The chair that has been waxed looks gorgeous but I know that seeing 5 moe waiting there must be maddening! It seems that chalk paint saves you some initial time with no priming or sanding (form what I've heard) but then you have that waxing part - oye! It sure does make a beautiful finishing touch though so hang tough! You'll get them done and can then sit back and listen to the oooo's and ahhhhh's of admirers! Hugs, Leena

Said "never again" but time passes and out comes the paint and wax! However, these chairs are just beautiful along with the table. Lovely transformation!

ReplyDeleteDoing a dining room set for a customer right now - and could finish the table and pedestal legs - the buffet and hutch and sideboard in less time than it's going to take to do 4 chairs.............

Sooo, I've been debating refinishing 6 chairs (seriously). Would you recommend it? bahaha. You are definitely helping me lean towards just buying new ones and calling it a day!
