Little French Style Table

I won't claim to know French style.

I'll just claim that I like it.

I will also claim that I don't have any of it, unless you count an old metal sign I recently took down that says Bon Appetit.

And I won't claim to have bought, painted, or incorporated this cute little table into my home either.

However I did provide the paint and a bit of unsolicited instruction.

My friend Dii picked up this side table at a thrift store.  I took a before photo of it, and as she shrieked when the camera came into view, I was careful not to capture her in paint clothes for the photo.

But what the helll happened to the before photo?

I can't find it.  So wrap your head around a typical little wood toned table.

Look at all the detail in those nooks and crannies.

The top piece is a removable tray that has a glass insert, but heading to my house there was no reason to bring the glass along, so it was taken out for safe keeping.

Below is a photo after the removable tray frame was distressed and given a coat of dark wax.

Dii had yet to try any chalk style paint so I felt the need to expose her to it's virtues of no prep.  She wanted white, and on hand I had some Annie Sloan Old White.

After one coat of ASCP

She gave it two coats for nice coverage, also so the details would pop when the dark wax was applied.

I must say she is a much more detailed painter than moi.  I'm of the slap it on fix mistakes later crowd.  Dii is a dainty mess free painter.

The details show off after some light distressing and the coat of dark wax nestled in to the grooves.

Then she was hooked on the whole process of no prep, distressing, waxing, and most importantly getting it accomplished in a few hours hanging out with me.

That last part was the best right Dii?

If she comes over once a week I'll have to keep up with her painting habit.  I'm pretty sure I won't run out of stuff to do.... the shed is full.
