Sometimes I see something for cheap, that I have no desire to own, but gosh darnnit if that fifty cent price tag doesn't tempt me anyway.
Such is the case with this candlestick.
It's heavy.
It's big.
It's begging for a Fall makeover.
So I slapped down my two quarters and brought it home with me for the September Thrift Store Decor makeover.
Over summer I added some color in my otherwise sea of greige home, and the color is a burnt orange.
I really like the pillows and rug that are perking up our family room, so I thought more coppery shimmer would be nice.
Enter the candlestick and some Copper Fusion Gilding Paste.
A little dab will do 'ya.
I rubbed it on the metal base and let it cure.
Then I had trouble deciding on what color to paint the wood, typical paint color indecision for me. So the metal base "cured" for several weeks.
I decided to do a gray and then rub more of the metallic copper over the whole thing.
It's a nice touch of orange with the gray undertones from the metal base showing through.
I'll have to find a better place to put it however.
It's tall and blocks the TV for the person sitting in the spot behind it.
However if you stop in and have a seat on the other side there just might be an Autumn fire burning to take the chill out of the air.
Stop in and see what the other ladies from
Thrift Store Decor have spruced up for September.
