Since I hauled out the box of tin just yesterday this is a follow-up for what I did with the stuff.
The letter holder is now displaying my mom's Primer, from 1927. For you youngsters, a primer is a book to learn reading. It's really worn and faded and I love it.
BBQ tongs. Really looooong ones. Used for short people to reach farther. Like to hang a galvanized letter "R" on the mantel.

ReplyDeleteNice way to showcase your collection. I luv it!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gee
It took me 2 days to finish my Valentine mantel. I would have to quit working if I had 2 mantels to decorate.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Wow! I'm impressed with your posting marathon! Your aluminum mantel looks lovely! C'mon....do a Valentines one...c'mon!
ReplyDeleteI love it. The hammerd aluminum looks really good grouped on the mantel.
ReplyDeleteit's hard to type when I've fallen on the floor. And lying in a pile of dust. I love aluminum! All that shininess...it's bling for my house!!
ReplyDeleteLovely display!
ReplyDeleteYou go, girl!
ReplyDeleteStacey
p.s. - better slow down now and take a breath
What a beautiful mantel. I also collect hammered aluminum.
ReplyDeleteSo now I need to copy your great idea!
Have a great weekend,

Looks really smart.
ReplyDeletethis is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love how it all goes nicely against the rock and of course the galvanized "R"...should be in my house.

Dust is just a normal part of my decor - it's vintage! Love your hammered metal mantel, but I'm more than a little jealous that I don't have any mantels and you have 3.
ReplyDeleteyea, you displayed it! good job!
ReplyDeleteLooks great and I didn't see a fleck of dust!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, clean and very unusual !
ReplyDeleteI love this mantel.

Your mantel is a knock out! I love the shine for winter.....And I agree that it's very unique. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! And you have three mantels...you poor thing! :)
ReplyDeleteFarmhouse hugs,
Cindy
Thank goodness it's dressed now!! My eyes hurt from averting my gaze at its nakedness!! The primer is an awesome and special touch!!! I'm still working on my VDay mantel but I did get the decorations down. Baby steps...
ReplyDeleteOh Bliss, your mantel looks beautiful! Now I can't wait to see the other two!! Enjoy your weekend, Gail
ReplyDeleteYou lucky girl...all that fabulous aluminum to choose from...and the primer (yes, I knew what it was...after all, I AM a woman of "a certain age") is perfect. I'm thankful that you didn't post naked photos of your mantel. I like to keep my blog viewing "PG13" at least until after I've had my coffee! xo
ReplyDeleteLove the mantel. Great job of displaying your aluminum!! I feel the same way about the dust. You clean it off and it just keeps coming back.:D And posting two days in a row. Oh girlfriend you are amazing. I've missed a bunch of posts I guess as I'm so far behind on my email.
ReplyDeleteWanted to share with you that I'll be on NBC's Today Show next Friday, Feb. 1st around 8am-8:30am. I won one of three spots in their chicken wing contest. Ha...I've only made wings twice in my life and once was for this contest. But they are different and killers. Look forward to 'seeing' ya. Luv ya girl!! Nann
Whoa, slow down! I may feel like I have to keep up with that posting schedule. Dusting? Is that an Olympic sport I know nothing about? Love the decorated mantel...but you knew that!
ReplyDeleteYou have three mantles???? You lucky girl! (Although decorating them every couple months... Yeah. I can't even get my ONE decorated for Valentine's Day) This one looks beautiful!!!! Hmmm... Barbecue tongs... I'll have to remember that idea. LOL! Love it, Bliss!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! Rocking the mantel and aluminum worlds.... awesome!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the letter holder holding a precious book. What a divine idea!
Keep rocking it,
Joanne
I never change anything! I really don't enjoy decorating at ALL. Your mantel looks great. I'm not a youngster, but I had no idea what a primer was...thanks for filling me in.
ReplyDeletehappy Friday Bliss!

Lovely! One thing (of the many things...) about our new house I am looking forward to is having mantels! Three of them. Ohhh the possibilities. I have several of my grandmother's primers. We love them - the stories are quite amusing too. We write "children's books" so different now.
ReplyDeletePrettyyyyyy!!! They look fabulous in their new home.
ReplyDeleteI went back to catch up with yesterday's post...I'm always a day behind it seems! You really have a great collection, and I love the idea of actually using it in your decor! Your mantel looks perfect for winter...silvery and shiny...
ReplyDeleteI love your hammered aluminum collection and they look wonderful on your mantle. Have a great weekend. xx, Sherry
ReplyDeleteLooks marvelous! I haven't put anything on our bare living room mantel since Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love that collection used in mass on your mantel like that! That looks great. I think it's nice to have a mantel with some sort of intent instead of just random things placed up there. Glad you explained what a primer was. I didn't know. Guess I am a youngster and didn't know it! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love your mantel display. I have a small addiction to serving pieces. You just gave me an idea. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love it Bliss!!! You have a super collection.
ReplyDeleteI thought i was the only person east of the mississippi to collect hammered aluminum. Guess not. I keep mine on top of a cabinet in the guest bathroom. No room left on the mantel.
ReplyDelete... at my house, I call it the good silver.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what you were able to do with that pile of metal! Love how you topped it all off with the R. There will be no stopping you now that you're on a roll. Looking forward to what you will get into next!
ReplyDeleteLiz
Beautiful! And I love the tongs idea - I'm not so very tall myself.
ReplyDeletelove the fun, and the metal with rock work is cool, brilliant as usual tongs for reaching....
ReplyDeleteI love that you put it out already!!!!! BBQ tongs, that was a good one!
ReplyDeleteYou are spoiling us. The mantel looks great. I am sure your pieces are happier on the mantel than tucked away in your dark basement.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic with your river rock. I have never seen such unique pieces like you have in your collection. I would bet this stuff gets very popular now with all the gray tones in decorating. You better hang on to that stuff. It might be good as gold.
ReplyDeleteHey Bliss; Are you SURE that you did not come to my Yard sale and purchase all of my Hammered Aluminum from me??? LOL ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour Mantel looks absolutely Beautiful!!!!! I wish that you would decorate all of the Mantels that you have. I would if I only had a Mantel!!!!!!
I Love, Love, Love it!!!! Take Care :-)
Hey my comment disappeared!!!
ReplyDeleteIs it waiting for approval?
No - guess not lol -
ReplyDeleteI love love love your mantel - ( except I see one of those tin trays being a mini blackboard )
I danced around this place for a month because I finally had a fireplace - you have 3???
Sweet dreams are made of this!

XOX

Those look awesome Bliss. LOVE the look, and now you can enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! You really have some unusual pieces! Love it! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteA beautiful collection, so artfully arranged. The silver tones of the trays are the perfect contrast to the stone in the background. I especially love the extra meaningful touch of your mother's book.
ReplyDeleteJenn/Rook No. 17
Wow, what a lovely collection! I liked the big round one at the back on the left hand side, it would be the perfect size for pizza but I don't think it was ment for that!
ReplyDeleteWait, so is dust not an acceptable mantel decoration? That's all I've had since Christmas. Well, that and random toys moved out of reach of babies. The tin is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove it! So fun...
ReplyDeleteI love that! I have some of that aluminum stuff that I can't GIVE away in my booth! Look how nice that looks! I need to steal this pic and put it with my aluminum display! Love it!
ReplyDeleteSo glad the dust remained. Wouldn't want to mix things up too much now. And it really does look great! Three cheers for hoarding!
ReplyDelete:) Linda
I found your blog through Kelly from "The Essence of Home". Love your hammered aluminum collection on the mantel. I collect it too and have several of the same pieces. Just became your newest follower.
