I walk by the dining room table and it gets the all clear, then 5 minutes later it's covered in a project.
She is a spur of the moment crafter.
Her older brother bought some canvas, and some fabric paint then enlisted her to make a colorful banner for his band for an outdoor summer gig.
With the left over paint, she made herself and her younger brother flag shirts for the 4th of July.
First she used masking tape to tape off her stripes, and put a piece of copy paper over the area that will be the stars.
Next she used the red paint and just lightly sprayed it so the shirts would have a faded look.
She found some old stars from probably 20 years ago in my craft bin and pressed them on. I think I used them for her older siblings on a chore chart. I never get rid of anything apparently, and they never used up their stars!
Same technique - spray the blue lightly for a faded look and remove the star stickers.
As for the banner, well lets see, first she started off with a dusty metal lampshade to make a circle in the center.
She sprayed and spread with a brush till she had two brightly colored banner with the band name in the center where the lampshade was.
One banner is currently in a pile in the garage and the other one hangs as a curtain on the door of our old building where the band practices. I probably won't see the 4th of July t-shirts till next year.
If they can find them.

I have never used that stencil spray. great jobs on the shirts...and banner.
ReplyDeleteoh i love that banner! it looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI like the paint idea... I'm thinking of trying it on a pillow though. Your daughter sounds a lot like my oldest daughter. She is very spur of the moment when it comes to crafts etc... but she's good. Me, it takes all day and a huge mess to get something accomplished... But, I am spur of the moment too... wish I could plan and be more organized... not happening. Yet. I am optimistic :)
ReplyDeleteI love the light spray, faded technique and the gold star idea too! Cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat projects!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a creative bunch you all are. Gotta love it when the kids naturally think to create rather than buy band signage and summer wear. I want one of those tee shirts for this weekend. Happy 4th, Bliss!
