But I will be coming home eventually and I'll greet you if you show up at my door bearing gifts, however there is a good chance I will be snuggled up under the covers in our decorated bedroom trying to stay out of trouble as part of the "Come Home For Christmas - Room To Room" holiday blog tour.
The tour is organized by the talented twosome at 2 Bees In A Pod along with other bloggers who have a knack for decorating that is by far better than mine, so make sure you tour their rooms which includes entryways, living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms and bedrooms - all decorated for the holidays.
I think the other Come Home For Christmas participants must be on the "nice" list.
As you scroll it will be obvious that my room isn't decorated in the traditional holiday colors, so if you want a little something different take a peek.
Our family room has log siding and a few years ago rather than fight those wood tones I decided to go with 'em, so I've used those same warm copper shades for this bedroom tour.
The Kringle Coal Company deals in black chunks of carbon, it's the place where the elves keep the stash of coal for Mr. Kringle to deliver to those on the naughty list.
Sometimes I get a little heads up regarding that naughty and nice list.
So as you come on in you'll see someone at our place is a bit worried about being on the wrong list this year.
Now I'm not telling what side of the bed belongs to whom, but one of us wants Santa to get a certain message!
That message is "NO COAL". Maybe
I think the right side of the bed is trying to bribe Mr. Kringle with treats - it seems to work.
The baker at this house does make the best gingerbread cookies if she does say so herself.
Notice the two lumps of coal on that tray?
Hmmmm., wonder who those are for?
It's hard to be nice all year long, right?
That would be 365 days of sweetness, always thinking of others first, never having a bad thought or saying an unkind word.
I know for a fact at least one side of the bed practices those things all year.
That doesn't mean the other side of the bed isn't trying hard at it though.
It probably isn't the first time the right side of the bed has been worried there would be coal showing up on Christmas Eve.
That poor worried soul has enough fear about the naughty list to have a Santa shrine on top of a bedroom dresser.
Because nothing says nice list like Santa in a wood Howitzer crate.
I don't know what all the fuss is anyway about making it on the nice list, it's not like Santa takes out a front page ad for all the world to see.
I guess there is still time for the right side of the bed to rectify any naughty behavior they have displayed over the past year and get back on the nice list in time for Christmas. But that doesn't sound like much fun.
Being on the naughty list probably has something to do with over exposed blog photographs all year or something like that.
Or maybe it was being in a hurry to do this post while packing a suitcase and getting the sleigh ready to fly down to Florida for a bit. There is a big mouse waiting to meet a certain 10 and 7 year old, and some chick he hasn't seen in a while.
Or maybe the naughty situation was a recent event, like Santa doesn't approve of Christmas decorations that are not red and green?
If that's the case, surely Santa knows there are plenty of bins of red and green stuff at the ranch and that the last minute trip sort of put the brakes on the total room decorating effect.
After entering a name in the List Generator, the right side of the bed has saved Santa the trouble and just put the darn coal out themselves. See that.... thems -elves. Yup, I bet it's the elves just up to no good, playing a lumpy trick on someone.
One side of the bed deserves more rest and relaxation than the other, they have been good all year long and always on the nice list for the things they do.
The photo-taking elf had to hurry up to take these photos with glass glare causing issues, but you get the idea, it's sort of self explanatory that one side of the bed is nice, and one is naughty.
The only thing missing is flashing lights to emphasize which side is naughty.
The nice side whipped up a pallet tray and hauled out Christmas decorations well before Thanksgiving, just so the other side could take these photos.
Lots of focus on the bed side of the room isn't there?
That may or may not be because there is a pumpkin and Amazon boxes out of sight of the camera lens on the other side.
Those barn doors would sure look nice with a couple wreaths hanging from them huh?
Potentially Mr. Kringle won't be such a jolly old elf when he sees that someone could not resist temptation and nibbled off the lower torso of his gingerbread man.
A blogger's gotta eat right?
There are 365 days to try and be nicer next year.
And I like a challenge.
